Recovery Protocol
The imndy Sleep Protocol: Why the Night Is Non-Negotiable After 50
If sleep is junk, every other protocol is swimming upstream. I treat the night as non-negotiable maintenance — not optional self-care fluff.
After 50, recovery is the multiplier. Training, supplements, and mindset only stick when the nervous system actually powers down and rebuilds.
1. Guard a consistent window
Same-ish bedtime and wake time most days beats heroic weekend catch-up. Your circadian system loves predictability more than perfection.
2. Light by day, dark by night
Get outdoor light early when you can. In the last hour before bed, dim screens and overheads. Light is a protocol, not a vibe.
3. Build a sleep cave
Cool, dark, quiet. Blackout what you can. The room setup is part of the practice — like racking the weights before you lift.
4. Wind-down on purpose
Pick one: breathwork, light stretch, spiritual quiet, or reading paper pages. Repeat it so your brain recognizes the off-ramp.
5. Be honest about caffeine and alcohol
Cutoffs that match your physiology, not your calendar invites. Longevity is built in the boring boundaries.
